Pears' Athletics Endowment Gift
Pears' Athletics Endowment Gift
Tom & Laura Pears' love for Ragin' Cajun athletics is quite apparent. When someone was needed to lead an effort to raise money for athletics during the University's Investing in Our Future Centennial Campaign, Tom Pears heartily agreed to be a co-chair along with Wayne Elmore.
During the Centennial Campaign drive Mr. & Mrs. Pears established the Thomas G. & Laura Langlinais Pears Athletic Endowment with a $50,000 gift. Annual interest earnings from their permanently endowed fund will forever benefit Ragin' Cajun athletics.
Later, Mr. & Mrs. Pears were among the first donors to the Operation Kickoff campaign, an ongoing effort to endow all athletic scholarships at UL Lafayette.
"Laura and I recognize the many values of Ragin' Cajun athletics," said Tom Pears. "Athletics provides so much more than entertainment; it provides an avenue for many students (athletes, cheerleaders, band members, student trainers, etc.) to be involved with the University," said Pears. "Athletics helps students learn about leadership and teamwork. And, it provides a common rallying point for so many alumni, fans, and others within our communities. It is a pleasure to invest in something that returns so much," said Pears.
